Colour, Flowers & Fashion
Everywhere I look I’m seeing colour, flowers, fashion even cars are looking brighter, it’s like a whole group of people got together 12 months ago and predicted Spring 2022 we’d needed cheering up!
Just Be
Good Morning – I’m saying that because I want you to know I’m writing to you from my tiny office at home and its coming up to 9am. I know ‘Working from Home’ to some is a new experience that came about because of the pandemic, and made possible in practical terms by technology.
Phone Addicts
How fabulous to be looking at Apps in My Weekly but is it just me, or does it seem like yesterday that that we used a mobile phone as a secondary form of contact only to be switched on when away from home should anyone need to urgently contact us.
Have You Made Any Holiday Plans?
February is coming to a close and if I point my nose into the air à la Moominmama (Love Tove Jansson’s books) I can sniff holiday thoughts flying through the air.
The Crazy Life of Soho
I’m looking out of the window at a very grey sky but honestly bursting to share a story with you about a huge ray of uncontrollable sunshine that is bathing the lives of four friends bringing them heart-bursting happiness.
Hello, from Italy!
This week I’m writing to you from a small town in Italy just outside of Milan, from my window the sky is a stunning blue, the mountains are glistening, I can smell log fires burning, nothing could look better. However, we are here not for the happiest reasons.
So this is 2022!
So this is it, 2022 New Year, New You (or just a little bit of editing and fine-tuning!) I am a constant life editor, tweaking and fiddling around with everything from my home to my wardrobe. I believe it is good for the soul as is keeping things clean and fresh. When everything is tidy and free from clutter we twinkle ‘reduce to radiate’
Let’s talk about Christmas Day
Let’s talk about Christmas Day. I love so much about the Christmas season and truly bust a gut getting as much right as humanly possible. I love the city lights, shop windows, the bustle, meeting up with friends, drinking mulled wine, decorating the house while listening to Christmas tunes
New Year, Let’s talk – ‘How to Age well”
Well in line with our magazine I confess that this weekend outside of wearing my matching Pyjamas (last years New Year resolution to tidy up my home wear still going strong) I have spent waking hours in running around in gym wear while not actually doing anything that would remotely come under the heading ‘Exercise’.
The Christmas Countdown Begins
Really on the countdown to Christmas now so hope you’re getting through your practical ‘To Do List’ and your emotional one? By this I mean all those people who you think about often, don’t see but always mean to get in touch with. Well, don’t be a teenager, pick up the phone. But why don’t we?
Broken Bones & Christmas Shopping
The internet shopping part of my Christmas is well underway, and I hope to have all gifts bought, delivered, and possibly wrapped by the end of November so I can enjoy all the twinkly nice bits that the festive season has to offer.
Scare the Stuffing Out of Us!
Well, the good news is Christmas is definitely happening it says so on my Calendar, Church Noticeboard, in My Weekly and when I popped into ‘Pets At Home’ they had a mountain of squeaky plastic brussel sprouts, Christmas puddings, turkeys and pigs in scarves, all waiting to be destroyed by eager pooches on the big day.
Autumn Days
Well haven’t we been lucky with some crisp Autumn days I’m loving them and today after last week’s letter to you I’m going out to buy Gourds and play around arranging them.
Transition Season
How’s your seasonal transition going? I’m just about dealing with those beautiful leaves that gave us such a glorious display of colour now everyday falling to the ground and with Halloween just around the corner Winter is well and truly on its way.
Little Home Improvements
Last week we were talking Hygge the Danish movement for wellbeing which amongst other things has a large amount to do with the way we arrange our nest. I consider myself a lifetime member of Hygge and proclaim its virtues constantly but even I became reinvigorated by My Weekly’s inspiration and started poking around to see where I could improve.
Chelsea Flower Show
All excited sitting down to write because I’ve just returned from the intoxicating atmosphere of Chelsea Flower Show. Over the last few weeks, I’ve watched The Royal Hospital Garden transformed from a park garden to an uplifting stunning Autumnal Showground. Covid has tested our British spirit to the core but handed some opportunities to test out new ideas.
NEW BOOK – How to Age Well: The Secrets
Who woke up and said, “I want to age?” No one.
‘How To Age Well: The Secrets’ is packed with my thoughts, experts I’ve spoken to who inspire me and recommended reading for your own research.
Autumn is On The Way In!
Well, I’ve spent this week finishing off my book titled ‘How To Age Well’ which will be out at next month and already fretting over things I just didn’t have room, I knew this would happen so scribbling them down to drip feed to you over the weeks
The De-pack from Holiday!
So I’m finally back from the land of, ruins, churches, feta cheese, the colour colbert blue and now performing all those ‘coming home’ rituals, beginning with a proper cup of tea, plant check, and a whitewash.
Off to the Aegean Sea!
Well, I’m packing and jumping into the Aegean Sea headfirst with as much luggage as I can cram into my weightless case because traveling light is not my thing, cases have wheels so let them do their job and take the strain.
