Looking to 2024

I know we should never wish our life away but as soon as boxing day is over, I’ve mentally zapped to 2024. If I could wiggle my nose like Samantha from Bewitched, decorations would be flying in unison back into their see through plastic stackable boxes into the loft. And with the hatch shut I’d just be a couple of fireworks away from seeing in the New Year and getting on with it. I feel strangely good about 2024, not quite sure why, (outside of the fact my kitchen will be finished!) but last year was very much a year for ‘sorting stuff out’. I was lucky enough to rid myself and our family of things that had passed their sell by date and were holding us all back - lets call it a bit of life editing. So 2024 by nature of that is already beginning on a sounder, stronger footing.

Loving the ideas for New Year’s Day Brunch, but if you over do the fizz on New Year’s Eve and getting your act together by 11.00 sounds too  much,  there’s always ‘Lupper’ an amalgamation of lunch and supper which is a particular favourite of the Turner/Armstrong family!!

Also by eating at around 4.00 it means you don’t get the night munchies, so its positively healthy!

Huge fan of the phenomenal Hannah Waddingham, from the moment she walked on and owned the Eurovision Song Contest stage her star status was confirmed. But how glorious, that after years of hard work grafting away at her craft in theatre and television, her star rose when she was in her late 40’s. I heard her say in an interview that she stood outside in her small city garden and asked the universe for a job that would allow her to be in London to look after her daughter and give her the money to secure their future - Bingo -Ted Lasso. So tonight, stand outside, channel your inner Hannah and tell (don’t ask) the universe what you want for 2024.

Have you made any New Year Resolutions? I'm all about simplifying my life these days, I think it really helps our mental wellbeing and generally makes day to day living easier and less complicated.

I have very organised cupboards, even developed my beauty product BALM 6 to help with that (does six jobs in one so I could throw away unnecessary jars and pots) But whilst I have managed this organised state in most parts of my life, it hasn't quite stretched to my laptop. So, by the end of 2024 I want to have deleted all old emails, attachments and rubbish photos from my laptop. I also want to learn how to better organise my electronic files -  I'm looking forward to my Cyber Spring-clean! Either that or I'm going back to pieces of paper and a filing cabinet! The whole thing honestly drives me bonkers and unfortunately only I can fix it.

As I’m writing I just ran this amazing life changing resolution past Mark like I’d just thought of it, he reminded me I came up with the exactly the same one last year – Opps, but this year I’m really going to do it!!
