Well I had a rubbish week…

October 26, 2020

Well I had a rubbish week for two reasons. One, I had the back window of my car smashed in by thieves who then got into my boot and took a loved Mulberry holdall. Nothing in it of immediate use to them like money, laptop, iPad or phone – just personal stuff like make-up, hairdryer, brushes, notebook and a jacket. In fact the damage to fix the vandalism was more costly than the haul. I know there are worse things…

Are you a radiator or are you a drain?

October 24, 2020

Yes, I have been having plumbing issues this week, but that’s another story! But back to my question… do you wake with the intention of breathing life into your day, or do you wake under a cloud thinking about all the things that are wrong with your life? When someone asks how you are, a list of moans drip out of your mouth and your glass isn’t just half empty, it’s still in the cupboard! Many years ago I remember…

Your book of life…

October 7, 2020

I wanted to have a quick chat about your book of life… We all have one. It’s your very own imaginary scrap book lodged in your head, into which you paste everything that’s happened in your life, good and bad. Then every so often for no apparent reason you go through it. It’s a little trip down memory lane, but here is where the problem lies. Why are we hard-wired to remember the bad stuff more than the good stuff?…

Clearing out season…

September 28, 2020

My two favourite months are May and September. They are beautifully positioned in the calendar just 4 months apart but both in their own way celebrating change. To me they are more important than Christmas and New Year as you’re not encumbered by all the seasonal hullabaloo and you can focus your mind with greater clarity. Before I can do that though I have to clear the decks and that involves having a sort out. Being tidy and organised frees…

My Visit To Greece!

September 28, 2020

It’s really happening isn’t it? The autumn chill is descending upon us as we move into September and soon even I will be forced to pack away my flip-flops, bright summer clothes and even cushions – yes, I have summer cushions and winter cushions – and embrace the next season.   ViBRANT COLOURS However, should we be savouring more and not constantly thinking ahead? Enjoy the vibrant colours of autumn, pretty falling leaves, conkers, nights drawing in, eating soup again…

Wonderful Memories!

September 28, 2020

Do you ever find a photograph that pings back to you a host of wonderful memories? These come as you idly thumb through albums or via the modern way of Facebook Memories. The latter, to be honest, I have switched off at source as everything I said in the first line can also work in reverse. I’ve had mornings ruined by my computer randomly flashing up something I’d rather forget. So, while looking for something totally unrelated, I fell upon…

My Weekly! Discussing phone theft!

September 28, 2020

As I write I am wound up like the end of a mop just before you do the last wipe of the kitchen floor – although even that isn’t tight enough! I know phones get stolen every day. Together with bikes they are both at the very top of the “nickable” list, sadly so much so that the police understandably hardly raise an eyebrow. The drill is, you fill in a form online, get a crime number for the insurance…

A Litle Honesty and Some Herbs!

July 8, 2020

Hello, Let’s be honest, it’s human nature to judge. We might be too polite to say anything but we all do it, especially when we meet up with others. Women are the worst, or it could be argued, the best… “I like your dress where did you get it from?”, or “Who cut your hair, it’s looking great?” or, “You’ve lost weight, what did you do?” But there’s the unspoken observation we keep to ourselves… that perfume smells horrid, or…

Some updates with My Weekly!

July 8, 2020

Hello, How are you? I was late filing my column this week because I didn’t follow my own advice and the irony is it’s one of the things I wanted to talk to you about. Lifting restrictions Home gatherings and general entertaining will be the way most of us are going to get together with our family and friends over the summer. Even with many of the restrictions lifted I think in the back of our minds we’re all still…
