A little update…

June 5, 2021

Hello, Well due to the state of the sky above me (this is the wettest May on record since 1967) I’ve just Googled ‘Can I go to Greece?’ but after wading through the rather long complicated arrangements with numerous caveats laid down on the UK Government’s website to get in and my friend calling who after ticking every box has just had her BA flight cancelled to Mykonos, I’ve put the idea to one side and Googled Devon. Thankfully even…

Get Crafty!

May 18, 2021

I was delighted to see the fashion craft projects in last week’s My Weekly. How happy am I with a glue gun? Being the 20th presenter of Blue Peter was like Christmas Day ten times over for me, and my crafting skills helped enormously at the audition. I’m dyslexic, so at school, I concentrated my efforts on any subject that didn’t involve too much writing. I have an inbuilt fear of it which to this day has never left me.…

Celebrating Old Things!

March 27, 2021

Hello, This week let’s celebrate Old Things! I’m talking about items we’ve had for years. Last week while still in my pyjamas I had an overriding compulsion to clean my washing machine and dryer. This wasn’t just a wipe around, it was a pull every detachable part out, fire up the steam cleaner, turn up the music, and don’t finish until its completed a 60 degrees empty cycle with a cup of baking soda in the drum, two cups of…

Improving Our Dexterity

March 20, 2021

I’m passionate about improving our dexterity and in my opinion, the best way of doing this is – walking. Yes, just walking. But walking properly. Between the ages of 7 to 20 I trained in classical ballet so there’s a muscle memory laid down which has never left me. However, it’s never too late to fine-tune this daily movement which improves your physical and mental life. I teach my friends when we go on our walks and I promise you…

Life- Enhancing Improvements!

March 13, 2021

Hello, Do you remember back in the day before eBay we used to do swaps at school? I swapped a Donny Osmond poster for a pair of Osmond socks, and a blue Mary Quant eyeshadow for an equally vibrant purple – because as all Osmond fans know, purple is Donny’s favourite colour! As I’d entered a competition in Radio Luxemburg’s FAB208 magazine to meet him, I needed to get my look together for when it was announced I was the…

Let’s Get Listening…

January 22, 2021

Well, in light of a few articles in the magazine this week, I thought we should talk about lists. Let’s Get Listing… You know by now how much I adore a To-Do List. I am the woman who can make lists about the lists I’m going to write. I love them to the point I have lists on my smartphone which – through The Fluffy Magic Cloud – keeps them coordinated and updated with my computer. But because I am…

Soho the Little Helper!

January 15, 2021

Sitting at my computer with Soho the Frenchie balancing on my knee, I’m thinking, with the help of a fine red wine, what shall we talk about this week? There are two subjects in my head because I tackled them both today, reluctantly at first but once I’d started there was no stopping me and the task was executed with brutal efficiency. Task One The Linen Cupboard, or in my case cupboards, dotted around the house. When was the last…

Let The Christmas Preparations Commence…

November 12, 2020

I said last week I wouldn’t moan so I won’t, even though it’s taking my complete reserve of resolve not to as I’m a total anti- lockdowner. That on one side (she says with a high- pitched voice and pursed lips), let’s get on with Christmas preparations as best we can, to keep ourselves sane in this crazy world. There is proven calm satisfaction in crafting, but the two main reasons people give for not attempting it are time and…

Well I had a rubbish week…

October 26, 2020

Well I had a rubbish week for two reasons. One, I had the back window of my car smashed in by thieves who then got into my boot and took a loved Mulberry holdall. Nothing in it of immediate use to them like money, laptop, iPad or phone – just personal stuff like make-up, hairdryer, brushes, notebook and a jacket. In fact the damage to fix the vandalism was more costly than the haul. I know there are worse things…
