Anthea’s Biography

TV personality Anthea Turner has been in the spotlight for over 20 years. Star of the highly acclaimed BBC series Perfect Housewife Anthea gave homemakers intensive training in how to organize their homes, and, spread her passion for cleaning, saving money and ultimately helping make their lives easier. She also published a book to accompany Perfect Housewife series 1 and 2 as well as DVD releases. Anthea went on to publish two more books ‘How to Entertain in Style’ and ‘Perfect Christmas’ helping to establish her as the ultimate domestic goddess.   Anthea has also, over the years, presented top shows on a variety of subjects close to her heart from creating the perfect home to food, pets, travel and fitness.

Anthea is currently starring in an exciting new show Dinner Party Wars for Food Network, Canada, where, together with chef Corbin Tomaszeski, they judge and rate couples putting on a dinner party.

In 1992 Anthea become the 19^th presenter of the award winning BBC1 flagship children’s programme, ‘Blue Peter’.  During her two years with the show she launched the most successful ‘home made make’ in the history of ‘Blue Peter’ with an excess of 100,000 viewers writing in for details of how to make ‘Tracy Island’ from Thunderbirds.

In 1994 Anthea was invited to introduce the ‘Children’s Royal Variety Performance’ for the BBC in the presence of HRH Princess Margaret.

In the same year Anthea joined the network broadcaster GMTV where she anchored the 7.00am-9.00am time slot 5 days a week.

1994-1996 Anthea was the inaugural presenter of BBC1’s ‘ National Lottery Live’ programme, which quickly became the BBC’s highest rated entertainment programme.

Anthea has also successfully presented a selection of videos around fitness.  Her ‘Y Plan Fitness', video sold in excess of one million units, leading to further successful releases including ‘Body Basics’ and ‘Tone, Lift & Condition’.

In 1995 Anthea won the ward for ‘Best Dressed Woman on Television’ and in 1996 she won the prestigious ‘ Show Business Personality of the Year’ awarded by The Variety Club of Great Britain and was then voted ‘BBC Personality of the Year’ by the television industry the following month. 

 In 1997 Anthea presented the highly successful series ‘Pet Power’, followed by a major one off special entitled ‘Change Your Life Forever’.   

Anthea then went on to host her critically acclaimed travel series ‘ Turner Round the World’ before hosting the British long running travel series ‘Wish You Were Here’.

1999 saw Anthea front a brand new Saturday night show for the BBC alongside her sister Wendy called ‘Your Kids Are In Charge’ and in the same year the release of her autobiography ‘Fools Rush In’.

The following year Anthea too part in one of the most-talked about shows of the year when she appeared in ‘ Celebrity Big Brother’.  Immediately afterwards Anthea went onto host a food series called ‘Taste Today’.

Having left morning TV several years before Anthea returned to morning television fronting an IVF feature called ‘ Baby Makers’ before returning to the BBC with ‘Anthea Turner Perfect Housewife’ which became cult viewing and ran for 3 consecutive series.  Anthea went on to front a new BBC series ‘Help Me Anthea – I’m Infested’.

Anthea published ‘How to Entertain in Style’ in 2008 and shortly after the ultimate guide for the holiday season, ‘The Perfect Christmas’

In 2009 Anthea appeared on the UK’s version of Hell’s Kitchen where the appearance aligned perfectly with Anthea’s next culinary conquest as a judge on ‘Britain’s Best Dish’.

Anthea is looking to the future and with the new TV show ‘Dinner Party Wars’ and her current project  launching this website . She is hoping she can share her knowledge and make life that little bit easier for people and ultimately make them feel better.

Anthea Turner is based in Surrey, England where she resides with her husband Grant, her golden retriever, Buddy, 4 black cats, Olive, Oliver, Martin and Twiglet, her horse Caramelo, as well as sharing her home with her 3 beloved step daughters, Lily, Amelia and Claudia.
